Through out this class, I think I have learned lots of things. Everything was new and exciting for me. I am a Political Science major, so I had not paid attention so much to advertisement. I really did not know how they are well thought to affect us in our daily life.

One of the best topic I liked was stereotyping. People sterotypes everybody without being noticed by yourself. Sometimes people will not think what they are doing is stereotyping. The class about gender, ethnicity, etc stereotyping made me think more about what I am doing everyday. And I started to think more when I am walking around the city, in the mall, on TVs and so on. I was really interesting when I begin to understand why the ads are made so.

Recent years, social network technology is growing rapidly. Most of people can have access to internet. I think that the strategy of advertising is changing too. More people have facebook, twitter acounts and they are always on them. And even companies have their accounts too. As the tecnology moves forward, advertising is moving forward.

Nostalgia Marketing

Q1:What are some of the major advantages and disadvantages of nostalgia marketing?
A: Nostalgia marketing is a marketing that tries to recall their experiences in the product. It relies on consumers generating positive memories about past experiences. This marketing strategy has both advantages and disadvantages. First, the advantages are the remembering the past evokes positive feelings. And it will make people feel younger with familiar products. Also it can reduce the cost for advertising by using the past ads. On the other hand, the disadvantages are it might recall a negative associations which you don't want to do. And also it might alienate different target groups.

Q2: Are there some products or brands for which this strategy may not be successful? Why not?
A: The nostalgia marketing will not work if they try to bring the new technology combined with nostalgic marketing. Because it feels strange. Why could the newest technology could be in the old good time in the past? It is impossible! So this marketing strategy should be used for something that is very old and make people want to know more about the past good times.

Understand the consumer behavior

Coke from Coca-Cola has been account for more that half in the soft drink market. But in the 1980s there was a trend of non calorie drinks. Although, Coca-Cola was not having a low calorie product. Tab was gaining the profit from the light soft drinks.

Diet coke has succeeded to target the consumers who cares about weights but still want to drink coke. And it made a large profit from selling the diet coke.

Eco-terorrists

The opportunity that I had to know about this association was the lecture I had when I was in high school. We saw the movie "the Cove." I was really shocked at that time. But after I know a little about this assiciation, I statede to think that the movie might be overstated or unture movie. Because their way is always violent.

But people might affected when they don't know about how they are doing. I think there thought to protect animals are good. Although their things that you should not do.
They should protect humans life before trying to save animals.

Stereotype Part. 2: Gender

Some times it is difficult to judge the advertisments' stereotype is good or bad. Especially it is hard to decide the opposite genders' stereotype. Girls might think that the ad was offensive even I thought it was not. We have different view points and criteria of judgement. So it is not ok only because you think ok. You have to think about what the other might feel.

This is the one I thought, it may be the worst sexist ad.

This is totally offensive. In the first they are aggressive. And they says that this soda is for men. Like, manly calories. And at the last it clearly says and writter "It's not for WOMEN." This stereotypes is not making the ad commedy. They are just making women uncomfortable. I do not know why this ad was made. I think no one will like to buy Dr. Pepper after seeing this commercial. This ad is going too much. I think it is not a good thing to say definitively.

Stereotypes

Every advertisements have a meaning. it is well thought what to out on the ad. And to attract the customers stereotypes are used in advertising. Some stereotypes are good to make humor. But there are advertisement that might be discriminative.

This is a ad from NIKE. They are useing a blcak football player. He is fast and strong and a good player. But at the end of commercial he looks like a animal or a creature. This has a strong impact that, black people are kind of like an alien. Like these negative ads should not be on public. That will make a discrimination.
